Hop-On, Inc. recently announced its newest cell phone, the HOP1800, is now available in the United States and worldwide.
The mobile phone industry has advanced leaps and bounds over the past few years. So much in fact, that Hop-On can expect to make a sizeable profit on sales from its new $10 disposable mobile phone. Just a few short years ago, the idea of such a cheap disposable cell phone would have been impossible, if not unheard of entirely.
The HOP1800, at only $10, offers user a simple and easy mobile option – simply put, the phone does one thing and it does it well – makes phone calls, but you will have to pass on the extras. There’s no text messaging, no display and it only supports dual-band GSM frequencies.
Two variants of the disposable phone are available – one version works on GSM frequencies in the 850/1900 Mhz band (for US customers only), while the other will support 900/1800 Mhz frequencies for GSM in Europe and Asia. The device offers 4 hours of talk time and 150 hours of standby time.
Most notable, is that while the phone is bare bones, it offers user polyphonic ringtones and sports an Infineon chipset to ensure crisp and clear audio quality and reception.
Available only with pre-paid minutes, the HOP1800 is the ideal back-up device for anyone who frequently travels through GSM networks or for anyone that needs an emergency phone on hand. With the use of a local SIM card you can use the HOP1800 with over 40 domestic wireless carriers such as T-Mobile, AT&T and more.
Phones can be purchased at local convenience/drug stores and big-box retailers. The company offers a $5 rebate for returning the phone to encourage recycling and to “Keep it Green.”
Hop-On develops and markets wireless mobile phones and accessories and is best known for developing the word’s first disposable cell phone.
