Parent Features & Concerns
Parents should know that while children do have a chance to make new friends on Club Penguin, they are also exposed to some not-so-friendly behavior, which, depending on your child can be upsetting.
For instance, instead of using words to start a friendship, it is very easy in the virtual world to get a mean face icon as a response to a friendship invitation. And players can also throw snowballs at random penguins for no reason.
Club Penguin has two chatting options available:
Standard Safe Chat – Players are able to type their own messages to other uses. Each and every message is filtered to allow only pre-approved words and phrases and to block attempts to exchange any personal information such as phone numbers.
Club Penguin also employs on-site staff to monitor chat activity and to receive any reports of misconduct.
Ultimate Safe Chat – This option allows players to a predefined menu of greetings, question and statements as well as actions, emotes and greeting cards. When chatting, this option only allows the user to see other Ultimate Safe Chat messages.
